What people say

Catfish On Wheels is a catering service that specializes in on-site catering for company picnics, parties, and award dinners. Founded by James Varnell and his wife Joyce in 1987, Catfish On Wheels has a unique story behind its success. It all started with James' world-famous fish batter recipe that he created for backyard fish frys attended by his family and neighborhood friends in Channelview, Texas. Today, the recipe is referred to as "Our Daddy's Ol' Secret Recipe" by James' sons Bruce and Brett Varnell.

For years, James' friends and family members urged him to open a catfish restaurant in the Houston area because they were sure that his delicious fish could only produce a successful restaurant. However, due to the time-consuming commitment of running a restaurant along with his family's security and other responsibilities, James never wanted to take on this endeavor.

In 1987, as James and Joyce were approaching their retirement years from their respective careers, they were looking for an avenue that would allow them to travel and also make a supplement to their retirement income. Depending on who was telling the story, either James or Joyce came up with the idea for a concession trailer. So, James designed and built the first Catfish On Wheels trailer.

Today, Catfish On Wheels is known for its mouth-watering catfish dishes that are made using "Our Daddy's Ol' Secret Recipe". The catering service has become popular among companies hosting events such as picnics, parties, and award dinners. With its unique story behind its success and delicious food offerings, Catfish On Wheels is definitely worth trying out for your next event!
