SUSTAINABILITY
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
In coffee, sustainability is a topic that is widely spoken about but is interpreted very differently in growing vs consuming countries. A genuine sustainable coffee industry will only happen when the needs of all participants are met.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
A recent survey was done asking Honduran Farmers and United States consumers a series of questions. The differing viewpoints highlight the large differences in how sustainability is viewed. To read the survey in , please see the link in bio.

As a roaster, our goal is to display the work of the producer in the coffee we offer. This is the highest form of respect to their work and the coffee they produce.

At our coffee shop you will only find single origin espresso& coffees. Why is that?
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
We are not anti blends, we just believe in displaying the work of the producers not our ability to balance out one coffee with another.

“Mirador is owned and operated by Osito founders, Jose Jadir Losada and Kyle Bellinger. El Mirador is situated in the village of Picuma, just west of the beautiful Rio Suaza. When Kyle and Jose began their partnership at El Mirador, the farm was just 11.7 hectares. Since then the farm has grown to 23 hectares. The village of Picuma is special to the Osito family because Jose grew up there. En route to El Mirador, the Osito team typically stop to say hello to Jose's parents, who live just up the road. Although Jose lives in Garzon these days, Picuma is always home. A new wetmill was installed in 2017. Sra. Elsa keeps the family and workers fed and happy with large meals through the harvest period. Don Carlos, Jose's father-in-law manages the day to day running of the farm. During harvest time, El Mirador employs around 25 pickers. Finding pickers in this region is not eeasy, due to the more lucrative work picking coca in the nearby town of Caqueta. Kyle and Jose hope to encourage pickers to step away from this industry through offering wages far above the national average.”

As a Roaster, our goal is to be as closely related to producers. If the relationship is direct or through a partner working on the ground, it is important to have a trusted exporter & importer.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀
Over the last two years, has been a great partner for us. There passion to support producers and to bring quality coffees to Roasters is appreciated. They were a key partner helping us as we launched during covid. In addition, over the last two years we have been able to source quality coffees at a fair price. They also were instrumental in us directly sourcing our first coffee. Thank you Osito and we look forward to more great coffees in 2023!
