Royal Tteokbokki originated from the luxurious cuisine served in the royal court during Korea’s Joseon Dynasty. Unlike today’s spicy, gochujang-based tteokbokki, this version is characterized by its sweet and savory flavor, made with soy sauce, sesame oil, and meat as its main ingredients.

In the late Joseon period, rice cakes were considered a rare delicacy, reserved for royalty and aristocrats. Tteokbokki was often enjoyed during banquets or special occasions. Royal Tteokbokki, in particular, was elevated with exquisite ingredients and meticulous preparation, making it a dish of sophistication and refinement beyond ordinary food.
