It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Charlie’s passing. Charlie left us to be with our Heavenly Father early this morning. He was in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
His family wants to thank everyone for their continuous support throughout this time. Please pray for their strength and for their peace knowing that Charlie is resting in the arms of our Lord.
We will update you all on funeral services for those who may want to attend. Charlie loved each one of you, so let’s continue to love one another each and everyday in his honor.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 “We who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”

Hi everyone, thank you all so much for your outpouring love and support for Charlie and his family. We visited Charlie at his home today (3/29) and showed him all the messages and the first round of cards that were mailed to us - he remembered each one of you and laughed along with all the fun memories you shared at Edohana.
Charlie is doing his best adjusting at home, and although he would like to answer each of your calls and messages, he has limited energy and hopes you understand. I don't think he knew how popular he was!
When we told him about the GoFundMe you all started for his family, Charlie was surprised, and you could tell in his expression that he didn't know what he had done to deserve such a gracious gift like this. This type of fundraising gift is not common in our culture, but it was clear that this donation is bringing peace during this uncertain time. Even the donations from people who have never met Charlie nor dined in at Edohana is a true testament of how impactful this community is of recognizing an incredible gem like Charlie. You all are so, so amazing.
For those of you who still want to send cards of encouragement, we will continue to receive mail to this business address and deliver them to his home each week:

Charlie and his daughter recorded short video messages to express their gratitude for all your support. You all are appreciated more than words can describe!
Thank you again, and have a blessed week.

*This is Sarah Park posting on behalf of Charlie and the Edohana Grapevine team.*
21 years ago, our family opened up the Grapevine location of Edohana. Over a decade ago, our longtime GM Charlie (whom everyone confused for our dad 😆 but he’s basically like all of our dads at this point) took full ownership of this location and had made it his life. He cherished this place so much.
For 21 years, Charlie and his team of familiar faces have been a part of this community and have gotten to watch all of us grow up, celebrate milestones, share hugs, and take handfuls of those candies that Charlie would leave up at the front as we rolled out of there with full stomachs.
21 years later, we are sad to say that Grapevine Edohana is closing its doors.
Since early 2020, Charlie has been battling cancer which has recently spread quickly, but he didn’t want you all to know and worry about the severity; he just wanted to greet you with open arms and a smiling face like he had always done.
Charlie wants to thank this community for everyone’s support throughout the years. He loves all of you, and he truly wanted to push through to stay open another year because he loves the Edohana family and all of you so, so much. Thanks to y’all, Charlie and his team persevered through the pandemic while he received treatment, but now it is time for him to fully prioritize his health and spend time with his family.
I hope this message reaches many people in this community, as I’d like to collect some personal cards, notes, and photos to bring to him to show how much of a positive impact he has had on all of us. Many of us had our first jobs here at Edohana, or were longtime regulars-turned-family, so he would really appreciate the uplifting words as he looks back at the cherished times he’s had here with you all.
This is the most recent photo we all took together back in January where we enjoyed our last onion volcano with Charlie. Please continue to pray for Charlie and his family. On behalf of our entire Edohana family, THANK YOU. 🤍
