Bennigan's launched in the mid-1970s as one of the first casual dining chains.

Bennigan’s blended Irish pub vibes with American comfort food, amd became a go-to in the ā€˜80s and 1990s for happy hours, loaded potato skins, and those legendary Monte Cristo sandwiches deep-fried to golden perfection.

After overexpanding, the chain hit hard times & filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and closing hundreds of locations.

A few locations still exist today...mostly overseas

And it’s exactly what we’re bringing back.

Some things never go out of style… especially when they’re done right. 🄩

This Tasting Table feature shines a spotlight on a true guest favorite from the 80s—Steak and Ale’s legendary Prime Rib—and why it’s still remembered the way it is today:
https://www.tastingtable.com/2154439/steak-and-ale-chain-prime-rib-customer-favorite-80s/

Back then, it wasn’t just a menu item—it was the reason people came in. Slow-roasted, full of flavor, and served as part of an experience that felt special but still accessible.

That’s the heart of what we call new-stalgia—bringing back the things people loved, while making sure they still hit just as hard today.

And now, that story is being written again.

The comeback started in Burnsville, Minnesota—the first step in bringing Steak and Ale back to the communities that have been asking for it. What we’re seeing there is simple: the connection never left.

Because when something is built right, it lasts.

The Original is back. And this time, we’re building forward.

What makes this moment different is the approach. It’s not about rushing growth—it’s about building it the right way. Thoughtful expansion, strong training, and a focus on preserving the culture that made these brands matter in the first place.

For Steak and Ale, that means staying true to The Original—quality food, real value, and a dining experience people remember—while opening the door to new markets across the country.

The demand is there. The foundation is strong. And the path forward is clear.

This isn’t just a comeback—it’s a long runway.

The sky’s the limit. And we’re just getting started. 🄩

Every comeback has a starting point—but the story goes back much further. 🄩

Take a look at the heritage behind Steak and Ale:
https://steakandale.com/our-heritage/

Founded in 1966 by Norman Brinker, Steak and Ale helped shape what casual dining looks like today—bringing together quality steaks, approachable pricing, and a warm, inviting atmosphere inspired by the feel of an English inn.

It wasn’t just a restaurant. It was a place people gathered. A place that introduced ideas like the salad bar and helped define an entire category of dining.

Fast forward to today, and that same spirit is back on the table.

In Burnsville, Minnesota, Steak and Ale has returned—bringing with it the classics people remember, alongside thoughtful updates that carry the brand forward.

And what’s happening there is just the beginning.

There’s a reason this brand still resonates. The foundation is strong. The experience is timeless. And the opportunity ahead is wide open.

If you’ve ever thought about being part of something with real history—and real momentum—this is that moment.

It all starts in Burnsville, Minnesota.

After years away, Steak and Ale made its return by planting a flag in a place that believed in the brand—and the response has been exactly what you’d expect from something this iconic: excitement, nostalgia, and a whole new generation discovering it for the first time.

Take a closer look at where it all begins:
https://steakandaleburnsville.com/

Founded in 1966, Steak and Ale helped define the American steakhouse experience—quality food, welcoming hospitality, and a sense of occasion that made every visit feel special.

Today in Burnsville, that legacy is back on the table—alongside modern touches, chef-driven updates, and the return of the classics people never stopped talking about.

From the signature salad bar to prime rib and tableside service, it’s everything guests remember—refined for today, but still unmistakably Steak and Ale.

Burnsville isn’t the finish line.
It’s the starting point.

With momentum building and demand growing across the country, the next chapter is already taking shape.

The question is—where should we go next?
