We recently asked Heart of the City’s new CEO, Nicole Feldman, to share a few words about longtime volunteer Doris Glowicki.
What many people don’t know is that Doris is also the reason The Human Bean and Heart of the City connected nearly five years ago. When we were looking for a local food bank partner, Doris made the introduction. Whether it was timing or divine intervention, we’re grateful she did.
Today, Doris is one of more than 200 volunteers helping provide food, clothing, and hope to people in need throughout our community.
We’re collecting food donations through Father’s Day, June 21, and on June 19 we’ll donate $1 from every drink sold to Heart of the City.
Let’s fill the donation bins, support a great cause, and wrap cars around the building on June 19.

🌟 Featured Barista of the Week: Jenny! 🌟
Meet Jenny — born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and proudly making Lewisville a little brighter one drink at a time.
Jenny’s family immigrated to the United States 12 years ago to give her more career opportunities and access to a better education. That’s a pretty amazing story — and we’re lucky her journey brought her to The Human Bean. 💛
Jenny works out for fun, which explains her energy. And one of her favorite childhood memories is from when she was first learning English: her teacher would act out different animals to help her understand the vocabulary. 🐱🐶🐘
Her drink of choice? A Caramel Vanilla Oat Milk Cold Brew — smooth, sweet, and Jenny-approved.

The research keeps rolling in...

Scientists keep finding links between coffee and tea consumption and better long term brain health. We are not saying your morning latte is a miracle cure, but it might be pulling more weight than we thought.

The long wait is over… our brand new breakfast burritos are finally here at The Human Bean Lewisville! 🌯☕

…all wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla.
Trust us — these things are DELICIOUS. Our baristas already taste tested and approved them, and they disappeared fast. 😄
We’ll do our best to keep them in stock, but fair warning… once word gets out, they’re gonna go quick. Stop by and grab one before we run out of stock and you have to wait until more come in.

Well… we weren’t successful in getting “Squash” adopted this morning. 🐶💔
Squash is a lovable 3-year-old mutt that was picked up as a stray, but trust us… there’s nothing “stray” about this guy. He knows commands like sit, lie down, and shake, and he was amazing with kids and other dogs today.
He’s been at the shelter since January, and today we got to spring him out of doggy jail for a little field trip to The Human Bean. He absolutely loved the attention, the people, and soaking up all the love. ❤️
If you’ve been looking for a sweet, loyal companion, this is your guy. Somebody give Squash the forever home he deserves. 🐾

Yesterday we officially kicked off our Food Bank Giveback at The Human Bean Lewisville! 💚☕
Heart of the City dropped off collection bins — not garbage cans! — so our guests can easily donate canned or boxed food items right here at the store.
Our owner also had a great conversation with Danny Mayhall, COO of Heart of the City, about the incredible volunteer effort it takes to serve families in need. It takes more than 200 volunteers every week to help hand out groceries to our community.
So here’s your reminder:

Our Fill-a-Tray Giveback Program keeps pouring love back into our local schools. ☕💙
As we wrap up the last week of school, we were excited to drop off two giveback checks — one to Lillie Jackson Pre-K and one to Durham Middle School.
A huge thank you to every teacher, staff member, parent, and supporter who has picked up trays, shared the program, or simply come through our drive-thru for that much-needed morning caffeine fix.
And to all the teachers who bless our drive-thru windows every week — thank you, thank you, thank you. We appreciate you more than you know.

Meet Clayton — Dallas born, musically gifted, and possibly the only barista who could make your coffee and show up as the team mascot . 😄
Clayton has three sisters, plays violin and piano for fun, and says one of his favorite childhood memories is going fishing with his dad. 🎣
Fun fact: he’s been a mascot — which honestly explains the great energy. Ask him about apprenticing with The Stars.
