Originally starting as a little coffee shop, it was transformed into Shell's Oyster Bar and Grill with a simple menu of shrimp, catfish, and oysters. Due to legal issues with their name, they changed it to Half Shells while still maintaining their success and growth. Bill Bayne leads the operations in this thriving restaurant. For the seafood restaurant, take the DART rail to Mockingbird Station and walk east on Mockingbird Lane for half a mile until you reach the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road. The restaurant is located on the southeast corner of that intersection.

For the cajun & creole restaurant, drive south on I-35E and take exit 429B for Northwest Hwy. Merge onto the frontage road and turn right onto Northwest Hwy. Continue for about a mile until you reach Skillman St., then turn left onto Skillman St. Drive for another mile until you reach E Lovers Lane, then turn right. The restaurant will be on your left after about half a mile. There is parking available in a lot behind the restaurant or along E Lovers Lane.
