“I think it is why the Irish have always
loved me and I have always loved them. We speak the
same language. They appreciate and know what it is
like to live hard and to be brought up poor, and I think
that they know when I am singing it, I mean it. And I
believe that they know that I feel that emotion that I
have. I call it my Smokey Mountain DNA, but it is from
those old songs brought over from Ireland and
England.”
Dolly Parton wasn’t Irish by blood but felt a
musical and emotional kinship with Ireland. We will
miss her dearly.

There are moments when words simply aren’t enough.
Today, Ireland says goodbye to one of its greatest artists.
Glen Hansard wasn’t just a musician he was the voice of a generation, a poet, a storyteller, and a proud son of Dublin. His songs captured the beauty, struggle, hope, and spirit of Ireland in a way few ever could. Whether busking on Grafton Street or performing on the world’s biggest stages, he remained humble, authentic, and deeply connected to home.
His music has filled countless Irish pubs, brought strangers together in song, and become part of the soundtrack of so many lives.
Though his voice has fallen silent, his songs never will.
May he rest in peace, and may his music continue to inspire generations to come.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. 🇮🇪🎶💚
